One bottle of soda for the President, please
Photos of President Uhuru Kenyatta approaching a kiosk in Machakos and handing the attendant money for what his team said was a soda has sent the internet abuzz.
In the photos the President is seen approaching a kiosk where Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu can be seen taking a soda.
Another photo shows the President’s hand with some money stretched towards the shop attendant.
The President was in Machakos County for the launch of the connectivity project at Katulu Primary School in Tala.
The project, which was announced in March this year, aims at bringing transmission lines closer to households.
The Sh27 billion project is being financed by the African Development Bank and the World Bank and seeks to double households connected to the grid by 2018.

President Uhuru has come to be fondly referred to as the ‘People’s President’ for his tendency to snub protocol and going out of his way to freely mingle with the public.
