One dead as brave employee thwarts Equity bank robbery
Police in Kisumu shot dead one man and arrested five others after thwarting an attempted robbery at Equity bank’s, An’gawa branch.
The six robbers had stormed the bank at around noon armed with pistols and ordered customers to lie on the floor.
They then ordered staff into one of the cubicles before ordering the managers to open the safes.
In the ensuing commotion, one staff member pressed a secret alarm button, prompting the police to move into action.
A fierce shootout ensued between the robbers and the police leading to the death of one of the suspects.
The other five were arrested.
