“A truck ferrying members of the KDF from Eldoret to Embakasi, Nairobi has been involved in an accident. Unfortunately, we lost one while receiving treatment at the Rift Valley General Hospital,” Nakuru County police boss Mr Peter Mwanzo said.
According to the police, the driver of truck lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch after the truck’s brakes failed. Mr Mwanzo said that the injured officers were then rushed to health facilities in Nakuru, with some having been discharged. However, those whose conditions were serious were then airlifted to Nairobi County for further treatment.

Three weeks ago, 10 of motorists were forced to spend the night along the highway after a major traffic snarl-up that stretched for over 20 kilometers.
For 12 hours motorists were held up by the jam near the Gilgil weighbridge as traffic police officers tried to unlock the gridlock. Vehicles blocked one side of the road leading to the major traffic snarl up.
Efforts by some of the motorists to seek alternative routes ended in more suffering after their cars got stuck in the mud due to rains that had earlier hit the area.
