French telecoms giant Orange said on Monday it had sold its 70 percent stake in Telkom Kenya to UK private investment firm Helios Investment Partners.

It gave no financial details.

Telkom Kenya is Kenya’s historic fixed-line operator and the country’s third-largest mobile phone operator.

Orange bought a controlling 51-percent stake in the company in 2007 for $390 million (362 million euros).
