Origi arrives in Harambee Stars training camp

There was increased optimism at the Harambee Stars training camp on Friday after first choice goalkeeper Arnold Origi linked with the team from his Norwegian base Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zambia.

Origi missed the team’s previous Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo away in Brazzaville after failing to receive his air tickets on time.

Gor Mahia goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch stepped in his shoes for that match and he displayed a nervy performance as Kenya held the hosts to a 1-1 draw.

Origi arrived at the team’s residence at Mvuli House on Friday at dawn and attended the morning and afternoon training sessions.

The 31-year old said that the Sunday match will be a tough one, but he assured Kenyans that he will give his best to ensure Stars beats Zambia.

“Zambia were Afcon winners in 2012 and I know their aim is to qualify for the next tournament, so we expect a tough match. However, I know my capabilities and I will give my best. If everyone gives their best then I believe that we shall end up with a favorable result,” Origi said.

CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION

The Lillestorm goalkeeper also said that the presence of Kenyan internationals Victor Wanyama, Dennis Oliech and Lawrence Olum will give the team much needed confidence and motivation ahead of the match.

“These are very experienced players and their presence alone in the national team is enough motivation to the rest of us,” he said.

Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya swapped his trademark dark suits for a Harambee Stars track suit as he joined the team for the morning training session.

A total of 25, 000 tickets have been printed for the match, 2, 000 of them being VIP tickets which will retail at Sh1, 000. The rest of the tickets will be retail at Sh200, and will go on sale from 10am on match day.

This match will be presided by a friendly encounter between the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Law Society of Zambia which will be played today at 1.30pm.

The Zambian team is expected in the country on Friday evening, and they will be at the Nyayo Stadium at 4pm on Saturday for a feel of the pitch.
