Ottamax hits out at Gor Mahia officials over ‘theft’ of funds
Gor Mahia goalkeeping coach Matthew Ottamax has hit out at club officials over consistent delays in payments and theft of revenue.
The outspoken former Kenyan international goalkeeper, considered fourth in command at K’Ogalo’s dugout after coach Frank Nuttall, assistant coach Frank Ouna and team manager Jolawi Abondo, took to social media to highlight his frustration.
Ottamax commenced by sharing his work schedule.
“(It is) Wednesday 4am, at Awendo to work for Gor Mahia. (Then) Thursday 4am (in) Nairobi to train with Kenya U23 (team) at 7am… Saturday 6pm on the road again back to Kisumu to oversee my (Gor Mahia) goalkeepers,” Ottamax’s Facebook post read.
GATE COLLECTION
The he went for the punchline: “Halafu waibe pesa (then they steal the money) we work hard for without or with little sleep! Whose wife will understand your being broke when you are rarely at home with the family in the name of WORK? Then one day in your retirement the same THIEVES will say you never SAVED or INVESTED wisely.”
Allegations of theft of gate collection proceeds at Gor Mahia – which is the largest source of income for the club – have been consistently mooted for the past couple of seasons, an accusation club officials vehemently denies.
The club’s former Secretary General Chris Omondi also claimed his efforts to introduce e-ticketing during his stint with the team were frustrated in because “some people were making a kill from the gates through the current manual system.”
The team has in this season alone refused to train on six occasions, in protest over delay in payments over salaries and match winning bonuses.
