Outcry as Uhuru snubs women in initial cabinet changes
Kenyans online on Friday expressed dismay at the lack of inclusion of women in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s new cabinet.
Though the president’s cabinet list is not yet final, many wondered why he did not see it fit to retain at least one woman CS in the new look cabinet.
Some cheeky ones even roped in the exceptional performance of female candidates in primary and secondary national examinations!
The president retained Henry Rotich, Najib Balala, James Macharia, Fred Matiangi, Charles Keter and Joe Mucheru as cabinet secretaries.
He nominated John Munyes, Ukur Yattani and Keriako Tobiko as the fresh faces in his cabinet. The names of the three have been forwarded to parliament for approval for undisclosed ministries.
The President said he would be naming the rest of his cabinet in the coming weeks.
Kenyans online were however more concerned with the absence of women in the first batch.
