Outrage as rape ‘doctor’ Mugo wa Wairimu still at large
Police had by Wednesday afternoon not arrested the owner of a clinic linked to a video showing a man raping an unconscious woman, despite public outrage.
Kenyans took their frustrations to social media, asking the police to speed up the arrest with some saying the police were being lenient on him.
The man identified as Mugo wa Wairimu on his part kept writing on his social media accounts and asked the public not to believe what they saw.
His actions made Kenyans even angrier and questioned why it was so hard for the police to arrest him, yet bloggers who had been arrested in the past had been tracked through their social media platforms.
The video at the centre of his woes was recorded using a hidden camera and broadcast by Citizen TV during prime time news on Sunday night.
According to the report by the TV station, the video was recorded at the Prestige Health Care clinic in Githurai 44, Nairobi. The clinic is run by Mugo.
Kasarani police chief Robinson Mboloi on Tuesday evening said that the suspect had gone into hiding and had not been arrested, but his officers were after him.
