Here are my papers: Sonko alleges ‘plot’ to block him from race

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has alleged a “boardroom plot” to lock him out of the city’s gubernatorial race moments after he received his certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a lengthy post on his Facebook page, Sonko announced that he had received his certificate charging: “The devil shall continue to be defeated in Jesus’ Mighty name.”

He added: “Let me conclude the day by saying, boardrooms will never replace the will of the people.”

On Thursday, Sonko, who is hoping to vie on a Jubilee ticket, had alleged foul play after he was denied the all-important document.

DEADLINE

Jubilee has set today (Friday) as the deadline for submission of application papers.

The document is needed in line with Chapter Six of the constitution that touches on leadership and integrity.

There were claims that former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth was the preferred candidate for the powers that be, hence Sonko’s frustration.

The senator, who is a front runner in the race for the party’s ticket, went on: “There are some people who believe they are the puppeteers and the rest of Kenyan voters are marionettes created to dance to their creativity or lack of it.”
