Parma face relegation from Serie A
Serie A side Parma could be relegated from the Italian top flight league in the coming days, following media reports that the team’s administration has notified the league body of its inability to honour the remaining fixtures of the current season.
This development leaves Parma’s position at an all time low, amid continous reports in the media to the effect that the club is in a big financial crisis.
The club which is home to Kenya international midfielder Mcdonald Mariga, has failed to clear outstanding allowances and bonuses owed to players for the past six months.
In addition, as recently as last week, the team failed to provide cash for water in training and financial guarantees to cater for the stewards and security detail during competitive games.
The latest development imply that Roberto Donadoni’s team, which is rooted to the bottom of the Italian league with 10 points from 23 matches, is likely to forfeit the remaining 15 fixtures on a 3-0 loss basis, according to the competition rules.
Meanwhile, the fate of players and technical bench however remains unknown.
