Passaris attacked by handouts-demanding youths
Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris on Tuesday escaped unhurt after rowdy youths on boda bodas chased her convoy.
Passaris who had been warned of the planned attack by her security team went on to visit Dagoretti North for a civic education event.
The youths had warned that if Passaris does not give them handouts after the event they would unleash fury on her.
True to their word, just after the event as Passaris boarded her vehicle, dozens of youths chased her using boda bodas.
The youths who were riding in threes and fours per motorcycle chased the convoy all the way into the city and the woman representative managed to get a photo of them.
She then narrated her ordeal on Twitter complete with photos urging youths to move away from the handout mentality.
But I was adamant that I would not give any money and that our activities would go on as planned. To be fair, only a few youths have made a habit out of this, making the rest look bad. The turn-out was incredible and I enjoyed interacting with the local residents. (2) pic.twitter.com/EESHTxiNe7

On my way out, the rowdy youths hoped on bodabodas, three to four on each, and chased my car all in the way into the City in large convoy that paused a danger to other road users.
It’s high time we address the culture of handouts and its long-term effects on our youth. pic.twitter.com/KF1gbPHsM1
