Passengers escape unhurt after Migori-bound Ena coach bursts into flames


Forty-eight passengers on Wednesday morning escaped unhurt after the bus they were traveling in burst into flames.

The Ena Coach bus, which was traveling from Nairobi to Migori, is reported to have had a tire burst along Nairegie Enkare area along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway in Narok County.

In a statement, chief executive officer of Ena coach Richard Mogire gave assurance that all passengers on the bus arrived safely at their destination.

“At approximately 2am this morning, while en route from Nairobi to Migori with 48 passengers on board our bus experienced a front tire burst while ascending the hill after Suswa,” Mogire said.

Mogire said the bus driver stopped to assess the situation only to realize the bus had already caught fire.

“Upon discovering fire, our vigilant crew acted quickly ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers from the burning bus. We are relieved to inform you that no casualties or injuries were reported during this incident,” he added.

According to Mogire, there were no casualties or injuries reported during the incident.

“To minimize any inconvenience caused to our passengers, we immediately dispatched a rescue bus to the scene,” he said.

The passengers were transferred to the rescue bus and resumed their journey to Migori.

“We are working with relevant authorities to determine the root cause and take appropriate actions to ensure the highest standards of safety of our passengers,” Mogire said.
