Pastor Ng’ang’a struggles for answers, but denies involvement in crash


Controversial televangelist Pastor James Ng’ang’a on Monday denied being behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed a woman in a road accident in Limuru, even as police insisted they have a watertight case against him.

Police have recommended that Pastor Ng’ang’a of the Neno Evangelism Centre be charged with causing death through dangerous driving, failing to report an accident and driving a vehicle without valid insurance.

The preacher however insisted he was neither the driver or owner of the vehicle and was never involved in the accident.

CONCEAL CRIME

In a wide ranging interview with Citizen TV, the preacher also denied being at the Tigoni police station, where police belief he conspired with officers  to conceal the alleged crime.

The pastor however struggled to explain how multiple eyewitnesses had placed him at the scene of crime.

“This matter in now under investigation. Let those who saw me at the scene of the accident give their evidence to the police. Let those who saw me at Tigoni police station also give evidence to the police,” he said.

He also mixed up the name of the person who presented himself as the driver of the Range Rover which collided head-on with a Nissan car in the accident. The preacher referred to the man as Mbugua, yet his real is Simon Kuria.

CHURCH MEMBER

Pastor Ng’ang’a nevertheless acknowledged that the man is a member of his church.

In the interview, the preacher insisted that he was at his house at the time of the accident and had only gotten wind of the incident through the media.

He also denied seeking treatment at Karen hospital where media reports had claimed he had sought treatment  moments after the accident.
