Pastor Ng’ang’a’s daughter’s wedding: Only monetary gifts allowed!

Grace Neema Wanjiku Maina, the second-born daughter of Pastor James Ng’ang’a, founder of Neno Evangelism, is set to embark on a new chapter as she gets married to Shem Mugo on December 23, 2023.

Wanjiku, born to Pastor James Ng’ang’a and his late wife, Esther, is the second of four children.

The wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place at Neno Evangelism Centre, commencing at 10:00 am, according to an invite seen by Nairobi News.

“With the blessings of the family of Apostle Dr James Maina Nganga and Dr Gabriel Mugo Muruatetu, we cordially invite you to our wedding,” the invitation stated.

The couple has explicitly mentioned that they prefer monetary gifts over other forms of presents.

Wanjiku, a lawyer by profession, pursued her studies at Daystar University and is set to join the Kenya School of Law.

On the other hand, Shem is an accountant based in Nairobi.

In an exclusive conversation with Nairobi News, Pastor Ng’ang’a shared that his daughter specifically requested monetary gifts, emphasising that not all gifts received during weddings are well-intentioned.

He even called them “uchawi gifts” that he didn’t want near him or his kin.

“Not all people wish you well during your wedding; some people bring funny gifts like tissue papers and sanitary towels. My daughter requested people who want to gift her to do it in terms of money,” he explained.

This upcoming wedding follows the March 2022 nuptials of Pastor Ng’ang’a’s other daughter, Nyambura, an invite-only event held in a garden in Karen.

The venue was closely guarded, allowing entry only to guests with official invitation cards.

The controversial man of God has been vocal about the importance of marriage.

In one of his controversial clips, Ng’ang’a compared single people who live alone to mad people.

“Wale hamjaoa muoe haraka. Acheni ujinga wenu hiyo. Mnaenda kukaa kwa nyumba peke yenu kama wazimu. (Those who are not yet married get married and stop the nonsense of living alone like mad people).

The 70-year-old father of many said getting married is a very personal decision.
