Police arrest Kirinyaga teacher in suspected sodomy incident

Police in Baricho trading centre, Kirinyaga County, are investigating an incident where a senior teacher at a local high school allegedly sodomized a car wash attendant before dumping his body near a river.

Mr William Kinyua, according to police officers, took the car wash attendant to a joint where he bought him alcohol and carried him to his car, where he sexually abused the man.

Mr Moses Koskei, the Kirinyaga West Sub-County police boss, said that investigations had started.

“The victim is mentally ill and was lured by the suspect after washing his car. He usually washes cars in Baricho Town, and it is then that he asked that he joins him for a drink,” Mr Koskei told the media on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

The police boss then said they both left Baricho Town for Sagana where they had the drinks.

In his statement to the police, the victim said he thought the teacher had appreciated his efforts by taking him out.

After committing the act, the officer said the teacher went ahead and dumped the man near River Sagana.

While there, a group of women found the naked man and saved him from the pain and ordeal he had undergone.

The whole issue is now a matter of concern, with parents questioning the teacher’s character since he is a boarding master at a boy’s school.

The school’s principal has already been forced to state the matter, saying the teacher has never been reported to have engaged in such acts within the institution.

In a statement seen by Nairobi News, shared on WhatsApp, the principal confirmed that the teacher had been arrested over the matter.

The principal said that he was disturbed by the teacher’s actions, but already the police were on his case.
