Police boss kills pedestrian, injures two others, in road accident

A senior officer was injured in an accident when he knocked three pedestrians, killing one of them on the spot on Monday night.

Spring Valley police station commander Chief Inspector Michael Lemayan was driving along Mbagathi road in his personal car towards the City Mortuary when he hit the three pedestrians killing one on the spot and seriously injuring two others.

Police say Mr Alphonse Mutia Kinyili died on the spot while his colleagues are admitted in hospital in serious condition.

DISCHARGED

The officer sustained a cut on the right side of the face and was taken to hospital but later discharged.

The vehicle was towed to Kilimani police station for inspection.

Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno confirmed that the officer has been discharged and has resumed duty.

Detectives from Kilimani are investigating the case to establish what the three were doing under the footbridge after the officers who visited the scene found some stones on the road.

Elsewhere in Runda, police are investigation the death of a man who fell from the roof of a house.

OCPD Mr Otieno said that the deceased was in company of four others at an abandoned building, house number 316, along Runda Groove.

“The deceased fell from the roof and sustained serious head injuries. We suspect they were vandalizing the house,” he said.

SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Police are also are investigation two separate incidents of shooting in Kawangware and Kahawa on Monday.

In Kawangware, a man was shot by unknown gunmen who did not steal anything from him. The victim was from work when he was shot on the right side of his chest.

He is admitted in hospital in a critical condition.

In Kiamumbi, a suspected robber only identified as Mr Kioko went to a shop and ordered all the men around to go home and sleep. He then shot indiscriminately at people who were at the shopping centre.

A man identified as Samwel Njoroge 24 was shot on the chest and later died, while Ms Constantina Chacha was also shot and injured.

Police are yet to establish the motive of the shootings
