Police bust human trafficking ring, rescue 23 Kenyans

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday evening rescued 23 Kenyans who are suspected to be victims of human trafficking from a house in Drumville Estate, Kamulu.

Those rescued included 22 women, aged between 21 years and 40 years, and a 38-year-old male.

Police revealed that the victims were being held awaiting trafficking to Saudi Arabia.

Police added that detectives investigating the matter are pursuing the traffickers to face the law.

In the last several months, police officers in Nairobi have rescued several foreigners from human traffickers.

In 2017, the government reported 35 investigations of potential trafficking cases, compared to 530 in 2016. Many of them included smuggling and trafficking-related crimes.
