Police deny claims officer got stuck while in the act

Police in Mombasa have denied claims that an Administration Police officer got stuck after he was caught in the act with someone’s wife.

Jomvu Deputy county commissioner Kenneth Kitonga said the rumor was created by malicious people in Mikindani.

“From various quarters we heard that some two adults were caught in the act and that the lady involved was somebody’s wife whose husband had consulted a witchdoctor who made it possible for any man who engaged with his wife would get stuck. So the rumor spread like fire,” he said.

Mr Kitonga said police have launched investigations into the spread of the story, warning those involved will be apprehended.

STORM POLICE CAMP

Speaking with journalist at Birikani, Mr Kitonga said he had to call for reinforcements from Changamwe police station after the residents became rowdy demanding to gain entrance to the AP camp.

“Mikindani is a very busy estate which is next to a matatu terminus. We have many idlers in the area where I am told the story emanated. Every person rushed to the camp which is a security installation.

“We had between 600-1000 area residents threatening to storm the installation to go and view what they had perceived to have happened in the compound. Officers had to do what they had to do to deny strangers access,” he said, adding teargas canisters were thrown to repel the swelling crowd.

Mr Kitonga acknowledged some people were hurt during the fracas.

He insisted no officer was involved in the episode, adding that he can account to every officer in Mikindani.

He denied claims officers donated Sh100, 000 to appease the woman’s husband to remove the charm.

Police were forced to use teargas canisters to thwart more than 1000 people who had thronged at the AP camp in Mikindani after word had spread in the area.

William Salasia, a pastor at King Jesus Faith in Mikindani said he tried to access the area to pray for the two but the officers denied him entrance.

“Instead, I was repulsed by teargas canisters which were thrown everywhere. I know power of Prayer would have detached the two,” he added.
