Police grill woman after man dies in hotel room

Police have questioned a woman whose male partner died two hours after they had both checked into a city hotel.

The 32 year old woman was questioned by Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department at the Central Police Station.

According to Nairobi County Police Commandant Benson Kibue, the 55 year old man died on Sunday at around 8pm. The circumstance of his death remains unclear.

“The two booked the room at the famous hotel at around 5pm on Sunday, according to the records from the hotel reception. The lady reported the death four hours later,” Mr Kibue said.

The woman reported that they had been relaxing in the room when the man started complaining of abdominal pains.

“When the hotel administration went to the hotel, the man was lying unconscious in bed with foam covering his mouth,” said Kibue.

The man was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“As at now, we are waiting for pathologists to conduct a postmortem then from there we will be able to know what happened to the man” Mr Kibue said.
