Police gun down three suspected robbers in Kasarani, firearm recovered
Police in Kasarani Sub-County, Nairobi on November 8, 2023, shot dead three suspected robbers.
Nairobi News has established the three have been giving locals especially those who reside within Mwiki and Chieko areas sleepless nights.
A homemade pistol was recovered from the trio whose bodies were later taken to the City Mortuary.
“The police confronted the three men who appeared suspicious and when asked to surrender they did not and that is what led to the deadly shoot-out,” a police report seen by Nairobi News read in part.
Police say that they have in the recent past received complaints from locals over the operations of the slain suspected robbers.
One of the three had managed to flee the scene with gunshot wounds but could later be found dead a few meters from the scene.
Residents who woke up in the morning found the body of the third suspect lying near a river which is located in the same area with Kamuteini Primary School.
He could later be identified as an accomplice of the two who were shot and killed by the officers.
The incident takes place at a time when police officers have announced that security will be beefed up in various areas ahead of the festive season.
It is a norm that crime usually increases especially during the festive seasons across the country but police officers have always managed to deal with the situation.
Some of the robbery incidents that usually increase during this time include cash and mobile phones.
Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said they have enhanced operations in the city to tame cases of insecurity.
This includes increasing police patrols and deploying more officers ahead of the festive season.
“Police patrols within Nairobi County will be increased ahead of the festive season and Kenyans should go on with their business as usual,” he said.
