Police hold woman in connection with husband’s death


Police have arrested a woman suspected of killing her husband following a domestic dispute.

The suspect is said to have cornered her husband having a private affair with another woman inside their kitchen.

In a police report filed at Kapsowar police station, Ms Anita Chepkorir Kiprop, 40, is said to have hacked her husband Mr Raymond Kiprop Gibore, 42, using a machete.

The matter was reported to Kapsowar location area chief Mr Paul Kosgei after he was informed about the incident by locals.

“Mr Kosgei reported that he had received a report of the murder at Kiptenoi village where upon follow up, he found out that Ms Chepkorir who hails from Talai Sub-location in Kiptenoi village had cut her husband using a machete after finding him having a private affair with another woman inside the kitchen,” the report read in part.

The deceased was rushed to Kapsowar Mission Hospital where he was treated and referred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital located in Eldoret.

However, Mr Kosgei was pronounced dead on Friday at 4pm while undergoing treatment. The scene was visited by officers from Marakwet West.

“A panga and blood-stained clothes were recovered and kept as exhibits. The accused was arrested and placed in cells while appearing normal,” the report further read.

Ms Chepkorir will spend the weekend in the police cells and she will be arraigned in court on Monday, April 25.
