Police hunt for man who beat wife to death in Kariobangi

By NAIROBI NEWS February 25th, 2014 1 min read

Police are looking for a 40-year-old man who clobbered his wife to death.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Sunday in Kariobangi.

According to area police commander Baraza Wabomba, the man quarrelled with his wife before hitting her on the head with a club.

“He hit her several times on the head and fled. He is still at large and we are looking for him,” Mr Wabomba said.

Prior to the incident, the woman had attempted to run away, but the suspect caught up with her, and killed her at a neighbour’s house.

Security guards blamed

Separately, rogue private security guards have been blamed for an upsurge in crime incidents in the city.

Nairobi police boss Benson Kibui said investigations revealed that guards had been switching off electric fences then tipping gangsters in the Karen area.

Two night guards and a house-help have been arrested following Saturday night attack on the home of Bangladesh High commissioner.

The ambassador, Mr Wahidur Rahman, was not injured during the attack.

“The gangsters did not break in and we are investigating to understand how they gained entry,” police said.

Last week, Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo was injured when gunmen raided his home in the same area.
