Police officer shoots himself in bizarre incident


A police officer on Sunday shot himself on the back while being held in the cell.

Corporal Anthony Kimoning of Hardy Police Station was being detained at the station’s cell after being involved in a shooting incident.

The officer shot himself while in the cell and was found by his colleagues at 2pm and taken to Nairobi West Hospital.

This is the latest shooting incident involving police officers. On Monday last week an officer was shot and injured by a gang in Ruai.

STOLEN PISTOL

The administration police attached to a State House official was shot on the head and his Ceska pistol stolen from him.

Corporal Kennedy Nkune was accosted by a three man gang riding in a motorcycle at Muhuri Muchiri area in Ruai and shot twice on the head.

The gang escaped with his Ceska pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition. The officer was rushed to Ruai Family Hospital in serious condition.
