Police officer shot on the backside while on a robbery spree
A police officer is in custody after he was shot and injured during a robbery spree on Wednesday night near Hamsa, along Jogoo Road.
According to a police report, they received information from members of the public that a suspicious person was armed with a pistol.
Police on patrol went to the trading center and when they challenged the man to surrender, he instead engaged them in a shootout before he was shot and injured on the backside.
Police later established that the suspect is a police officer attached to Diplomatic Police Unit, Gigiri.
After being disarmed he was taken to hospital where he was treated and was put under arrest.
