Police plan to exhume Jeff Mwathi’s body, visit DJ Faxto’s house

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers are planning to exhume the body of Mr Jeff Mwathi who died in unclear circumstances while in the house of popular Mugithi hit maker Mr. Lawrence Njuguna Wagura alias DJ Fatxo.

Speaking while addressing the media when he banned opposition demonstrations scheduled for Monday, March 27, 2023, Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome said plans were underway to seek orders which will see the body exhumed.

“Detectives are looking at several dimensions including where they say he passed and dropped to the ground. We are moving to court to seek an order for the exhumation,” Mr Koome said.

He said that anyone who will be found to have committed a crime in relation to Mr Mwathi’s death will face the law.

The DCI had earlier suggested Mr Mwathi might have been killed before his body was thrown through the window to make it look like a suicide.

In his statement, DJ Fatxo said he left his apartment located on the tenth floor of Redwood suites where he lived and when he came back moments later he found out that the deceased was missing.

“I had left and when I came back I did not find Jeff in the house yet the others were there. I am even the one who went with the rest to the police station and reported that Jeff was missing,” DJ Fatxo told journalists in a past press conference.

He also told off his critiques who questioned why he went on with life as if everything was well, yet he had lost a friend.

The entertainer then said that he was the one who even informed the family that Jeff had died and even asked his mother to assist in reaching out to the family.

“I even told the family that I will ensure that we give him a decent send off, but it seems that the mother was not informed about all these,” he further said.

He also said that he was willing to cooperate with detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) during the ongoing probe into the death.
