Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday raided a home in Nairobi’s Kilimani area and seized more fake gold bars among other contraband.

Eight cars of different make, including Subaru, Mercedes Benz and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, were also impounded during the raid which was led by Kilimani Police Station DCIO, Fatma Hadi.

Sleuths attached to DCI stormed into the house and arrested some of the occupants.

The impounded vehicles were towed to Kilimani Police Station.

The raid comes exactly three days after the DCI warned those involved in the fake gold business of an impending crackdown on their illegal operations.

An officer privy to the matter told Nairobi News that they have been keenly observing how the suspects arrested in the house have been operating before they finally pounced on them.

“We have been receiving several complaints about the dealers who engage in fake gold. I believe what we have recovered today will assist alot in the ongoing investigations,” said the officer.

Last week, DCI boss George Kinoti, in a statement, warned that action would be taken on all those who have been engaging in the fake gold business.

He further asked embassies to warn their citizens of the syndicate that has been operating in the country.
