Police recover car stolen from athlete’s husband


Police in Kakamega have arrested two suspects and recovered a vehicle that was stolen from the coach-cum-husband of World 5,000m and 10,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot in Nairobi on Friday.

 The athlete’s husband, Samuel Kiplagat, was robbed of the vehicle, a Toyota Prado Registration Number KBN 474 D, while entering a compounded in Ngong area where he had gone to inspect construction work of a building he is putting up.

Administration Police (AP) officers on patrol in Kakamega East Sub County, led by the area AP Commander Ben Abuga and who had information of the missing vehicle stopped it at Muranda area and ordered two occupants who were inside to identify themselves.

 Abuga said upon interrogation, the two men in the vehicle took them to their home in Mukulusi village and upon searching their house nothing was recovered.

They were transported to Kakamega Central Police Station on Sunday at 10am.

 “The vehicle, a Toyota Prado Registration Number KBN 474 D was driven by the suspects themselves under tight security to Kakamega Central Police Station,” Abuga said.
