Police suspect ‘rapist doctor’ hiding in MP’s house

The owner of a clinic linked to a video showing a man raping an unconscious woman has been taunting the police on social media, even as they continue searching for him.

The man identified as Mugo wa Wairimu took to Facebook to dare the police to arrest him and asked the public not to believe what he called ‘choreographed pornography.’

Sources at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation stated that police suspect that Mugo was hiding at an MP’s house.

By 5pm Tuesday, Kasarani OCPD Robinson Mboloi said that the suspect had not been arrested and that he had gone into hiding.

CLINICS CLOSED

“We are pursuing him though and we will not relent until he is arrested. His clinics have been closed” Mr Mboloi said.

Police kept vigil at the entrance to one of the clinics in Zimmerman even as angry residents threatened to burn the clinic.

Mr Mugo, who later Tuesday afternoon deleted his Facebook account, also kept sharing phone numbers on his Facebook wall.

It is not clear whether he was sending out a message to his supporters to reach him on those phone numbers, or he shared them for a separate reason.

UNBOWED

In one of the posts, Mr Mugo wa Wairimu said he was unbowed and kept blaming a blogger, Mr Robert Alai, for his woes.

The video recorded using a hidden camera was broadcast by Citizen TV during prime time news on Sunday night.

According to the TV report, the video was recorded at the Prestige Health Care clinic in Githurai 44.

The clinic is run by Mugo. A medical board denied that he was a qualified gynaecologist.

The video showed a woman on a doctor’s examination table and a man undressing before climbing onto the table and engaging in sex with the sedated woman.

SAFE AND STRONG

Reporters could be seen trying in vain to speak to Mugo as he locked himself in one of the consultation rooms.

In one of the posts he made on Tuesday, Mugo said; “I am safe, very safe, I can’t answer the hundreds of calls coming in per minute. Just know I am safe and strong. Time is the remedy for everything.”
