Power outages to hit Nairobi and three other counties today
Get ready for power interruptions today across four counties as Kenya Power announces scheduled outages in specific areas.
In an announcement on their social media, Kenya Power has informed customers in four counties to brace for power outages scheduled for today, December 6, 2023. The scheduled interruptions are part of routine maintenance activities to enhance the power supply infrastructure.
A disgruntled customer, known as @YamoJulius, expresses frustration, questioning the regularity of blackouts on Wednesdays.
In the Nairobi Region, Langata is set for a power interruption from 9 am to 5 pm. The affected areas include T Mall, Moi Educational Centre, School of Blind, Deepwest, Kogo Flats, Wilson Airport, AMREF, Sunshine, Uchumi Hyper, Uhuru Gardens, Dam Est, Part of Deliverance, Breeze Est, Jonathan Ngeno, Uhuru Gardens Est, Samachji Houses, Willow 1 & 2, Uhuru Camp, Nairobi West Prison, Texas Cancer Centre, Part of Mbagathi Rd, Bible Society, Miller Est, Akiba Est, Akila Est, Funguo Est, Kwetu Hostel, Strathmore Univ, Parallel Four, Hamayun Est, and neighboring areas.

North Rift Region, particularly parts of Trans Nzoia County (Lessos, Maridadi), will experience a power outage as well from 9 am to 3 pm. This includes locations like Lessos, Maridadi, Kapsitwet, Kobos, Mile 11, Kwanza, Kolongolo, ADC Orchards & adjacent customers.
South Nyanza Region targets parts of Kisii County (Ogembo, Tabaka, Riosiri) with a scheduled outage from 9 am to 4 pm. Affected areas encompass Ogembo Market, Nyabisiongoroi, Ikoba Market, and adjacent locations.
Mount Kenya Region focuses on parts of Nyeri County (Kiriaini, Kamune) with a power interruption set from 9 am to 5 pm. Gatugi Market, Kiriaini Town, Kamacharia, and various markets are part of this outage. Another affected area is Gachatha, Kariguini, from 9 am to 5 pm.
In parts of Laikipia County (Ichuga, Ngarariga), power will be interrupted from 9 am to 4 pm Ichuga, Tigers, Kwa Huku, Nalanya, and others are listed among the affected areas.
