Prayers up! TV legend Catherine Kasavuli admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital, appeals for blood donations

Veteran journalist and prime time news anchor Catherine Kasavuli is admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, at their Prime Care Center.

According to information in Nairobi News’ possession, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) news anchor is in need of blood and is mobilizing Kenyans to donate some for her.

In a blood donation request form dated October 26, 2022, the hospital’s Blood Donation Unit revealed that Catherine was admitted to Ward 9C-CCU.

“Dear friends, colleagues and well-wishers, our dear colleague Catherine Kasavuli is hospitalized at the Kenyatta National Hospital Private Wing after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.”

“For those who can, she needs a blood transfusion urgently. Your prayers and moral support will be very welcome,” read a message in Nairobi News’ possession.

It was sent by Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC)  cting Managing Director, Samuel Maina.

A source who spoke to Nairobi News said that the procedure is that a person who is admitted to the hospital is given blood that is already processed and stored in their blood bank but they have to replace it.

“What is given (donated following appeal) is received, processed and replaces what was given. A patient cannot be transfused before donors give blood,” said the source.

The blood donation appeal was also shared on social media by various influencers including Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly, Robert Alai, who appealed to his followers to help Kasavuli.

Catherine Kasavuli, in her personal capacity, has also been helping many of those with medical issues seek urgent treatment. She has been using her social media platforms to mobilize Kenyans to raise funds for patients who are seeking urgent treatment.

The most recent cases were of a baby who was born with a congenital abnormality of imperforate anus with infertile hydrocele.

Four days ago, Catherine Kasavuli announced that she had successfully mobilized her followers to help Baby Sophia who received treatment and is recuperating.

She is currently appealing to Kenyans to help Baby Sophia’s family to clear an accumulating hospital bill before they are discharged.

Nairobi News prays for Catherine Kasavuli’s successful treatment and wishes her a quick recovery.
