President Kenyatta’s pleasant surprise to iHub techies

President Uhuru Kenyatta caught techies off guard on Friday afternoon when he made impromptu visits to the iHub and Nailab at Bishop Magua Centre, off Nairobi’s Ngong Road.

Nailab founder Sam Gichuru said he had requested the Head of State to visit their offices but didn’t expect the President to show up unannounced.

“That moment the president shows up and you do what you have to do… and I didn’t even have shoes on,” read Mr Gichuru’s Facebook post.

“I did not even realise that my hand was in my pocket. We say Thank you Lord.”

The casually dressed President Kenyatta chatted freely with the staff of the two incubation centres.

Nailab and iHub are incubation centres in the city which provide rental spaces where young innovative entrepreneurial members can receive mentorship, Internet connectivity and the possibility of venture funding through connections with the international venture capital community.
