President makes surprise visit to Westgate Mall
President Uhuru Kenyatta made a surprise visit to the Westgate Mall in Westlands on Sunday after it was re-opened last week.
The President was accompanied by a lean security team and motorcade in a visit that caught his handlers by surprise.
The shopping mall was in September 2013 the scene of one of the bloodiest terror attacks in Kenya after Al-Shabaab militants killed 170 people following a three day siege.
Scores of shoppers thronged the Westgate Shopping Mall on Saturday when it reopened. Police Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet accompanied Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to the reopening.
