President Ruto drops Faith Njeri Harrison as PS nominee

President William Ruto has dropped Faith Njeri Harrison as Principal Secretary nominee for Performance Management and Delivery Services.

Ms Njeri, a former County Executive Committee (CEC) member in Kiambu County, had initially been nominated to the State Department for the position.

However, prior to the vetting process, her name was withdrawn, and Anne Wang’ombe was announced as her replacement by the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, on Wednesday.

Esther Ngero’s resignation from her position led to a vacancy in the office, which was subsequently filled by Anne Wang’ombe.

Ms Ngero had been transferred to the Correctional Services department before tendering her resignation on May 23, 2023, citing personal reasons.

In her previous role, she had served in the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Nairobi News had recently reported that Ms Njeri had a criminal case despite her appointment.

In April 2019, Ms Njeri and her driver, Harrison Kungu, were apprehended by the Special Crimes Unit police in Parklands, Nairobi.

The arrest came after they were allegedly found in possession of counterfeit United States dollars totaling Sh67,000.

Ms Njeri and Mr Kungu were stopped while driving a double cabin vehicle that displayed Government of Kenya number plates instead of the appropriate plates designated for county governments.
