President’s trip criticised in wake of attacks

May 5th, 2014 1 min read

President Kenyatta has been attacked by Nairobians on social media over his absence in the country after the terror attacks.

The bus attacks along Thika superhighway on Sunday happened hours after President Kenyatta left Nairobi for Nigeria.

Shortly after the attacks, frustrated Nairobians on Twitter went on the offensive accusing the President of neglecting his duties.

Under the hashtag #SomeoneTellUhuruKenyatta, they used wit and imagery to urge the President to stop making trips abroad and instead address the growing insecurity.

Statehouse Digital Director Dennis Itumbi tweeted that the issues raised on the hashtag had been noted.
