Prison warder charged for battering his wife

A Kenya Prisons Service officer is facing assault charges after allegedly battering his wife inside his house at the Nairobi Area Remand and Allocation Prison.

Robert Mutuota Muthama is accused of assaulting Janet Mbesa on November 18, 2019 during a domestic dispute.

The accused is said to have blamed the complainant of being drunk before he started assaulting her.

Muthama denied the charges before Makadara Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji.

He was freed on a cash bail of Sh 10,000 with the hearing of the case scheduled to start on June 6, 2020.
