Prof Mutua hits out at lawmakers in LGBTQ row

A renowned Kenyan scholar has condemned lawmakers who voice their disapproval against members of the gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community.

Professor Makau Mutua who also is a columnist in the Kenyan mainstream media accused the dissenting parliamentarians of not protecting the rights of all people.

He singled out Likoni lawmaker Mishi Mboko and her Nyali counterpart Mohammed Ali for criticism.

 

Prof Mutua is a professor at the SUNY Buffalo School of Law in the US and was its dean from 2008 to 2014.

He’s taught international human rights, international business transactions, and international law.

In 2016, he made an unsuccessful bid for the office of Chief Justice at the Supreme Court of Kenya.

His comes days after LGBTQ activist cum fashionista Edwin Kiprotich Kipruto alias Chiloba was murdered.

The US government has offered to assist Kenyan authorities with investigations to unravel the source and persons behind the murder.
