Pumwani Hospital goes digital
Pumwani Maternity has become the first hospital in East Africa to digitise birth records.
This means it will be easy for parents to get details of their children when they apply for birth certificates.
Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke visited the hospital and received the computers.
A new standby 27.5KVA generator was also installed and it will serve as a backup for the theatre.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Evans Kidero, Mr Mueke said the county government had given priority to Pumwani for major improvements.
“Rehabilitation of some of the wards and construction of a perimeter wall is ongoing,” he said.
The women in the wards were elated. One, who identified herself as Mueni said services had improved lately.
“The wards and bedding are cleaner though a lot still needs to be done. Water shortage is a problem and the toilets are at times very dirty.”
