Pumwani Maternity Hospital to get Sh510 million upgrade
The Nairobi county government will spend Sh510 million on the upgrading of Pumwani Maternity Hospital.
The County Executive for Health Dr Bernard Muia said the money will be used in the purchase of hospital equipment such as beds and other assorted equipment to help improve services delivery at the facility.
Speaking at City Hall on Thursday, Dr Muia said that the county government plans to complete the upgrading by the end of this financial year.
Dr Muia added that to help improve services at the hospital, the county government will recruit 50 more nurses in addition to 30 others who were employed recently to replace those who went on strike last month.
THEFT OF INFANTS
Dr Muia commended the nurses who are not on strike for continuing to attend to patients despite the heavy workload they are forced to endure.
“We appreciate the hard work done by nurses and their dedication to see to it that our mothers are adequately taken care of as they deliver,” said Dr Muia.
The county CEC further emphasized that the county government has employed more security guards at the hospital to help put to an end alleged theft of infants at the hospital.
The CEC assured Nairobi residents that there is no Cholera outbreak in the city and congratulated health care providers for collaborating with the government to prevent the disease in Nairobi.
