Raila confident of ‘easily’ beating Ruto

The battle to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta has intensified, with Raila Odinga publicly expressing his confidence of ‘easily’ beating William Ruto, his political nemesis, at the August 9 polls.

A seasoned politician and former Prime Minister, Odinga is, alongside William Ruto – the outgoing Deputy President – considered favourites to win the polls.

Odinga has also called out Ruto for continuously attacking him during his tour of the US.

“This guy (Ruto) has dared me for a fight for quite a while. He has been going round whining outside the country that the election will be stolen and that he is well prepared. I will beat him whether he has a parallel tallying center or not,” vowed Odinga.

Ruto used the tour of the US and UK to appeal to the global community to intervene and ensure the forthcoming elections are free and fair.

The DP also accused President Kenyatta and Odinga of overseeing corruption in the country in the past five years.

Odinga’s sentiments come days after an opinion poll conducted by Trends & Insights for Africa (Tifa), shows him having an edge over Ruto in Nairobi and Busia.

Ruto meanwhile, is more popular in Central Kenya.
