Raila set to address Kenyans after Ruto’s election victory

Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is scheduled to address the nation at 2pm on Tuesday, August 16.

In a statement sent to media houses, Mr Odinga is scheduled to address the nation from the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) within the Central Business District (CBD).

“Azimio La Umoja Coalition Leader Hon Raila Odinga’s address to the Nation. At 2pm and the location is KICC, Azimio Media Center,” the Coalition said in part.

Mr Odinga was conspicuously missing from Bomas of Kenya when Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati was announcing the presidential results.

It remains unclear what Mr Odinga will be telling the nation but already his running mate Ms Martha Karua hinted via her official Twitter account.

“It is not over till it’s over,” said Ms Karua.

In addition, on Monday afternoon a section of leaders from the Azimio La Umoja Coalition accused Mr Chebukati of hiding from them yet they had several grievances to make to him.

The leaders include National Alliance Rainbow Coalition (NARC) leader Charity Ngilu, Siaya Governor elect James Orengo and MP Otiende Amollo.

DP Ruto was announced winner of the presidential elections after he garnered 7,176,141 votes against Mr Odinga who managed to get 6,942,930 votes.

In his victory speech, DP Ruto said that he will work with all the elected leaders including those who were voted in through the Azimio coalition.
