Raila speaks after Supreme Court verdict

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has accepted the outcome of the Supreme Court verdict.

In a statement, the Azimio leader said that he is however disagreeing with the unanimous judgement of the seven judges who upheld the win of President-elect Dr William Ruto.

“We have always stood for the rule of law and the constitution. In this regard, we respect the opinion of the court although we vehemently disagree with their decision today,” Mr Odinga said.

This comes after the court dismissed all the petitions seeking to nullify the declaration of Dr Ruto as the 5th President of Kenya by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

According to Mr Odinga, his lawyers tabled irrefutable evidences before the court to prove that the election was rigged.

“This judgement is by no means the end of our movement. In fact, it inspires us to redouble our efforts to transform this country into a prosperous democracy where each and every Kenyan can find their full belonging,” he added in the statement.

Mr Odinga added that he will communicate soon on the way forward in the quest for transparency, accountability and democracy.
