Raila to storm Kibra tomorrow for Imran Okoth’s campaign rally
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga will on Sunday join other leaders in campaigning for Imran Okoth the party’s candidate in the November 7, Kibra by-election.
Mr Odinga is elected to lead the rally that will take place at Laini Saba grounds as from 2pm.
ODM youth leader Benson Musungu who was also eyeing the party’s ticket but was beaten by Mr Okoth confirmed that the rally was on.
“Tukutane Laini Saba on Sunday,” he posted on his Facebook page. ODM MPs in Nairobi will also attend.
The by-election is scheduled for November 7 and Mr Okoth will square it out with other candidates who include Eliud Owalo (Amani), Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya), McDonald Mariga (Jubilee), Fridah Kerubo Kingata (Independent), Editar Ochieng (Ukweli Party) and Malaseh Hamida (United Green Movement).
The by-election is seen as a test for William Ruto who is supporting Mariga in a constituency that is considered an ODM stronghold.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Ken Okoth on July 26, 2019. Ken succumbed to cancer just a month after returning home from France where he had been undergoing treatment since April this year.
