President Ramaphosa’s son arrives in Kampala for dowry ceremony – PHOTOS

Andile Ramaphosa, son to South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, landed at the Entebbe International Airport on Friday with a marriage proposal that will be presented to Uganda’s former Prime Minister and presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi.

Andile’s dad was not, as expected, among the 12-man contingent in Andile’s contingent but it is rumoured he would arrive by Saturday.

Andile, a 36-year-old financial manager, is expected to formally request her fiancée Bridget Birungi Rwakairu’s family to allow the couple to get married.

The couple have been dating for the past decade since meeting in University in Beijing and even though Bridget is a year older, they already have a two-month baby.

The bride-to-be was born to the late Shadrack Rwakairu and Peace Ruhindi. Mr Mbabazi took over her upbringing after her dad passed on more than three decades ago.

Andile is expected to part with some 100 bulls plus other gifts in an elaborate traditional marriage in Kololo, Kampala on Saturday and as well return the favour by inviting his soon to be in-laws to South Africa.

Speaking to Ugandan media in Kampala upon arrival, Andile said the couple had yet to set a date for the wedding.
