Rapper Octopizzo sues KTN for linking him to student’s death

Rapper Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has sued KTN over a story it broke in January that accused him of being involved in the death of a 19 year-old Strathmore University student Kenneth Abom.
In a radio interview hosted by Shaffie Weru and Adelle Onyango, the ‘Number nane’ hit maker said he had already taken legal action as he blasted the station for bad reporting.
“The problem was what KTN reported, it wasn’t even about whatever was happening. It’s sad that in this generation media personalities don’t take time to report facts. It was so sad to see a big TV station like that just doing hype,” said Octopizzzo.
“ It was bad reporting and I took legal action. I just told them to talk to the police as they were the ones in charge of the case and even the people who did the false reporting got their letters,” he added.
SCUFFLE IN HOUSE
The family of 19-year-old Kenneth Abom suspects the rapper injured their son on the head during a scuffle at his house in January.
Complications from the injury might have led to the boy’s death, the parents suspect.
The rapper denied the allegations, saying that Kenneth broke into his house.
Neighbours said the rapper was seen pursuing the boy from his house but he was immediately told to stop because Abom lived in the estate.
According to the deceased’s brother, Mr Paul Abom, Kenneth came running to the house which is on the fourth floor with a cut on the right side of his head and a blood-stained shirt.
JUMPED THROUGH WINDOW
“He went straight to the bathroom to clean himself up and the next thing we knew he had jumped through the window to the ground,” said Paul.
“He was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital and then referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where doctors [said] that he would recover,” Paul said.
He later succumbed to his injuries.
The rapper, in the radio interview, said the incident left him and his young family traumatised.
He said he had to talk to his daughter’s teachers to protect her from pupils who may make fun of her following the allegations.
