Rapper Prezzo to be charged with assaulting KQ pilot
Controversial Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, will Monday be charged with assaulting a Kenya Airways employee.
Nairobi County police commander Japheth Koome said the musician was arrested at Nyayo Estate on Saturday following a scuffle.
Mr Stanley Kipchumba Kimoret, a flight manager with the airline, told police that he arrived home and parked his car, but as he was offloading some items from the vehicle, he was confronted by Prezzo and two other men.
According to Mr Kimoret, the three asked him to drop them in town but he declined, saying he does not operate a taxi.
DRUNK
The pilot said the musician, who appeared drunk, tried to force himself into the car but he stopped him from doing so.
He added that the musician then slapped him, prompting security guards in the area to intervene.
Police were notified about the incident and the musician was arrested and taken into custody.
Officers have, however, dismissed reports that the musician drew his gun and threatened to shoot the pilot.
The estate chairman, Mr Robert Alai, had posted on his Facebook page: “(Prezzo) now arrested and booked into Embakasi Police Station. Threatening Nyayo Estate guards with guns. Don’t try in Nyayo.”
NOT AWARE
When the Nation called Embakasi OCPD Appollo Onyonyi to confirm the arrest, he said: “I have received many calls inquiring about the arrest but I am not aware of it.”
In December last year, Prezzo was involved in a brawl with a man at Skyluxx after he invaded a table where a couple was seated.
In January, the rapper, who seemed inebriated, could hardly answer questions straight during a live TV show.
