On that day, Ms Mukami was at her house with relatives when Mr Omwaka, who had left the house several days earlier, returned and allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to stab her.

The accused person later dropped the knife and took a hammer which he allegedly used to destroy the bed then disappeared. Ms Mukami reported the matter to the police. The accused person returned to the house the following day when he was arrested.
