Mr Mwathi met his death on February 23, 2023 at the apartment block where popular Kikuyu entertainer lives.

The artiste, whose real name is Lawrence Njuguna, had invited Mwathi for an interior design job but they ended up clubbing late into the nightin the company of DJ Fatxo’s friends.

Witnesses initially claimed that Mwathi had died by suicide, a theory that has now been cast into doubt by the police.

The storm over social media over the young man’s puzzling death has caught the attention of Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kindiki Kithure who has since ordered for a thorough probe by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.

It has been reported that DJ Fatxo has been cooperating with law enforcement authorities as they unravel the late Mwathi’s death. Mwathi’s family has maintained that their kin was a happy young man with a positive outlook on life and never had any suicide ideation as initial investigations concluded.

Questions are now being asked about how DJ Fatxo behaved in the aftermath of Mwathi’s death, especially how they allegedly lied about Mwathi’s whereabouts to his girlfriend. Several companies have also cut ties with the artiste.
