Revealed: DJ Fatxo’s ‘abnormal’ social media activity after Jeff Mwathi’s death
Just hours after 23-year-old interior designer Jeff Mwathi was found dead under unclear circumstances outside his apartment, Kikuyu entertainer DJ Fatxo appeared unfazed by the incident that has now captured the nation’s attention.
It has now emerged that on the day that the incident happened, the artiste went about posting social media content for his followers.
On Instagram, to his 61,000 followers, he updated four posts that would never have given away any hint that trouble was brewing on his end.
He first posted a throwback Thursday photo of himself looking slimmer as his followers commended him that he used to be a dapper dresser back then unlike today.
He also promoted his YouTube channel, telling his followers he will release a new hit song when he hits 150,000 subscribers. He currently has 149,000 subscribers.
“Na mūgoka uthoni wakwa April date na mwaka ndio bado sijajua (You are hereby invited for my dowry payment. In his third post, he shared a photo of himself with an unidentified woman with whom he appeared to be affectionate and happy at a photo shoot where he captioned the photo in regards to kissing women.
“Kissing her while arguing ati ndio anyamaze kama kwa (so that she can keep quiet like in the) soap operas is not for daughters of Mumbi. She will keep talking in your mouth 😅 #MwanaWaMutumia #TheDukeOfMugithi #DjFatxo #TheDukeAtItAgain,” said DJ Fatxo.
His last photo on that tragic day was one where he posed in his signature look of bleached blond hair and sunglasses as he advised men to either make more money than their women or ship out of the relationship.
“Bro if you can’t double the money your woman makes wachana na relationship tafuta pesa kwanza #MwanaWaMutumia #TheDukeOfMugithi #Djfatxo,” he said.
Mr Mwathi met his death on February 23, 2023 at the apartment block where popular Kikuyu entertainer lives.
The artiste, whose real name is Lawrence Njuguna, had invited Mwathi for an interior design job but they ended up clubbing late into the nightin the company of DJ Fatxo’s friends.
In the wee hours of the morning, Mwathi’s body was found having fell from the 10th floor apartment. The body was found with his trousers around his knees. Mr Mwathi was buried in Nakuru County on March 3, 2023.
Witnesses initially claimed that Mwathi had died by suicide, a theory that has now been cast into doubt by the police.
The storm over social media over the young man’s puzzling death has caught the attention of Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kindiki Kithure who has since ordered for a thorough probe by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
It has been reported that DJ Fatxo has been cooperating with law enforcement authorities as they unravel the late Mwathi’s death. Mwathi’s family has maintained that their kin was a happy young man with a positive outlook on life and never had any suicide ideation as initial investigations concluded.
Questions are now being asked about how DJ Fatxo behaved in the aftermath of Mwathi’s death, especially how they allegedly lied about Mwathi’s whereabouts to his girlfriend. Several companies have also cut ties with the artiste.
