Revealed: Fresh details of arms firm run by brothers in Arshad Rashid murder case

The two brothers who were last seen with Mr Arshad Rashid, the slain Pakistani journalist, before he was killed are linked to a company that sources for and supplies defense materials whose headquarter is in Kenya, Nairobi News can now reveal.

Mr Khuram Ahmad and his brother Waqar, are associated with Ammodump Group whose office is within the city, it has now emerged.

On its website, the company says that it sources and supplies defense-related equipment to various countries.

“We at Ammodump aim to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective equipment with rigorous focus on quality. In a dynamic era of ever-changing threats Ammodump strives to supply quality equipment adapted to our clients’ needs and forward leaning strategies,” the statement the website reads in part.

The company further says it carries products from global leaders in the manufacture of firearms and accessories and they ensure that they supply product as per to the latest technology.

“We believe that the right support would enable our security forces to create and maintain a safe environment for the nation to thrive,” the statement further reads.

It also said that they maintain stock for demonstrations that can be carried out in designated training ranges across the country.

This then clearly gives picture of a statement that was issued by the management on October 24, 2022, a day after Mr Rashid had been shot dead and his body taken to Chiromo Mortuary.

When journalists arrived at the Ammodump Kwenia, which is mostly associated to Pakistan and Indian nationals, the manager who identified herself only as Ms Jane declined an interview.

“We cannot say much about him as the matter is still under investigation by the police,” the manager, who only identified herself as Jane said.

However, it has been established that the slain journalist spent the day at the premises and that he was a frequent visitor.

The establishment has a tented lodge, shooting range, archery off-road biking trails and camping site. It also offers game drives, and farm tours.

The Pakistan government has maintained that the two brothers must shed more light on what happened to Mr Sherif who for over six months had raised concerns that his life was in danger.

In a press statement, Pakistan Minister of Interior Mr Rana Sanaullah said the death of the journalist was a planned murder.

“It is murder and it seems to be a prima facie, the two brothers in Kenya are still not out of it,” the minister said.

Prima facie Arshad Sharif was murdered. It was a targeted murder and not a case of mistaken identity,” he added as he rejected a version of the incident given by the Kenya police that Mr Sharif was shot and killed by officers at a roadblock on Magadi Road in Kajiado County.

Prima facie is a common term amongst lawyers which means that based on the first impression something is accepted as correct until proven otherwise.
