REVEALED: Police on the trail of new Dandora gang

Police in Nairobi have launched investigations over the existence of a criminal gang within Dandora.

Investigations by Nairobi News reveal the gang identified as Jeshi Band has been operational for months. It mainly comprises the youth.

A Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer who spoke to Nairobi News off the record explained some members of the gang had been tracked and questioned.

“We are aware of what is going on and some members of the gang have already been questioned,” said the police source.

Meanwhile, police are holding three robbery suspects who were recently nabbed as they reportedly attempted to rob an Uber driver in Kasarani.

The trio who included a woman reportedly hired the taxi from Ruiru and told the driver that they were heading to Kilimani but on arrival at Roysambu told the driver to head back to Githurai.

The driver narrated to the police at Kasarani Police Station that the robbers then produced a pistol and started threatening him.

This prompted him to instead speed towards Kasarani Police Station as he hooted loudly attracting the attention of officers.

The three were arrested as they attempted to escape and a home made pistol was recovered from them.

Also recovered was a pair of scissors and screw driver.

Nairobi County police boss Mr Adamson Bungei said the three will be arraigned in court to answer to the charges.

“Investigations are still ongoing and the suspects will be arraigned in court over the charges,” Mr Bungei said.
