REVEALED: Waiguru’s meeting with Jubilee MPs to save her job

Devolution Secretary Anne Waiguru has met President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies in a bid to assuage their anger over the rising claims of corruption and plunder in her ministry.

Jubilee coalition’s MPs are worried that the continued inaction of President Kenyatta on Ms Waiguru’s long-winding saga could be politically damaging.

Some of the coalition’s MPs on Thursday demanded the immediate sacking of top officials, including Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, whose ministries have been the focus of corruption allegations.

Source have told the Daily Nation that Ms Waiguru met a section of the dissatisfied MPs at the Panafric hotel on Wednesday evening to assuage their anger.

CRACK THE WHIP

MPs Esther Murugi (Nyeri Town), Wanjiku Muhia (Nyandarua Women Rep), Kabando wa Kabando (Mukurweini), Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North), Alois Lentoimaga (Samburu North) and Humphrey Njuguna (Gatanga) were on Thursday categorical that time had come for the President to crack the whip.

Ms Murugi urged Ms Waiguru to step aside for investigations to be carried out and if found to be clean, resume her duties.

“Let Anne Waiguru do the honourable thing and step aside so that the ministry can be cleaned where there is a problem. There are no sacred cows, the country has good women and men who can still do what Cabinet secretaries do. It is not a one-person show,” she said at the Boma Hotel where a section of Jubilee MPs had met.
